Heigh Ho, Heigh Ho to Disneyland We Go!

We've spent the last two days at "the happiest place on Earth"; and I can attest, we've been very happy!!! But, I tell ya, the boy has gone WILD!!! He's really been pressing his luck by eating breakfast, lunch and dinner each day! (Amazingly, no ill effects!) And he has spent each entire day at Disney...having the wheelchair has been a lifesaver, not only is it allowing Ron to rest, and get us to the front of most lines!... but I'm getting quite a workout....sculpting those thighs and buns of steel with all this uphill pushing. It's been worth every minute!

After a restful morning, we leave our hotel Wednesday and will take the scenic route (Highway 1) from Laguna Beach to San Diego.

California or bust!

The day has arrived! Despite a very early start (had to be at DFW by 6:30AM) and a panic attack on my part last night; we made it safe and sound. Yes, I confess; I got a little freaked out while packing. I allowed Satan to distract me with those dreaded "what ifs" and began to focus on circumstances, instead of God's promise that He goes before us and prepares the way. I know whatever happens, wherever we are; He is always with us!

"Jesus is going ahead of you...you will see him here." Mark 16:7 NLT

We have definitely felt God's smile on us all day! I'm amazed at how smoothly things went...the airport personnel were all phenomenal! Not only helpful, but, oh so kind and courteous as they went out of their way to meet our needs. We were whisked straight through security and at the gate, the ticket agent moved us to a bulkhead row with an empty seat between us for added comfort!

We met a precious young lady (L), who was just returning from a month long mission trip to Guatemala who felt God leading her to pray over Ron; believing God will bring about complete healing.

We arrived at the Santa Ana airport at 9AM where we were greeted with the same courtesy and helpfulness. When I went to pick up our rental, we were upgraded to a Jeep Grand Cherokee due to lack of vehicles in the class we requested when redeeming our miles; perfect for carting the wheelchair along with all our bags!

We drove around a little to get our bearings, stopped at the Vitamin Shoppe to pick up Ron's protein drinks and then decided at noon to stop at our hotel to see if there was a possibilty of an early check-in. Unfortunately, they did not have any rooms available with 2 doubles, but if we didn't mind a king..... I told them we had actually requested a king so she was happy to give us a room that was ready (4 hours early!!!) God is Good!!!

After a quick rest for Ron while I unpacked; we headed out to drive around and see the sights. We drove to both Newport Beach and Laguna Beach before heading back to the hotel for an early dinner. We are chilling in the room tonight, preparing for our first big day at Disneyland tomorrow!

Have a wonderful week! I will try (no promises!) to update sometime during the week!

Love, Christie

PS: Happy Father's Day to all you dad's!!!

I've Got 2 Tickets to Paradise!

The countdown is on...one week from today, we leave on our much-anticipated anniversary trip!

Ron had a follow up with Dr. A on Friday and was given the official go ahead. We have all the intensively planned, pro-active medical details in place, as well as a comprehensive synopsis of Ron's complex medical history, prepared by Dr. A, ready to hand to medical personnel should the need arise. He has also provided hospital and doctor contacts in both Anaheim and San Diego, just in case. We ARE NOT anticipating any problems, but because of his involved history; its important we be prepared for anything! Which I found out Friday included me learning how to remove Ron's PICC should anything drastic happen. I'm not sure I signed up for this when I accepted his marriage proposal! HAHA!! Life certainly has thrown us a few curve balls, but with God on our team...victory is ours!

So, the plan is we leave Sunday morning, June 21 for Anaheim, California where we will stay for 3 days; enjoying 2 of those days at Disneyland. It worked out great that some of our sweet family~niece, Julie and her boys, Jonah and Hudson, were planning to be there while in the states (they live in Greece) with some of Julie's family members. They graciously allowed us to horn in on their fun. We are super-excited to spend this time together.

On Wednesday, June 24 we will head down to San Diego, then return home Monday, June 29!

Keep your eyes open for another post to catch up on all that's been going on since summer break began.
